About Actual Colour Photography

Actual Colour was established by myself, Brian Garwood in 2003, as a sole trader I can assure you of personal attention and thought I would use this page to explain who I am and why I do what I do.

One of my earliest interests was photography, I had my first camera when I was 8 years old, by the time I was 15 I had an SLR camera and set up a home darkroom developing and printing my black and white film. In 6th form at school, I studied 'A' level Design and 'O' level Photography.

My first job on leaving school was Scanner Operator this combined my interest in art and photography with cutting edge technology. I served a 4 year apprenticeship, studied at the London College of Printing and learnt all about graphic reproduction, colour separation and the mixing of print colours. For over 21 years I worked for a succession of graphic reproduction, print and publishing companies in the South West scanning art and photographs until setting up my own business 17 years ago.

Over the last 17 years digital photography has grown immensely and therefore the need to scan photographs is almost completely reserved for vintage photography. It made sense in 2008 to start offering my own photography services commercially and make better use of my many years of digital editing, colour knowledge and camera skills.
